It was on August 28 last year that Uppsala District Court was vacated after receiving a bomb threat. Nearby buildings also had to be evacuated and a large area of the inner city was blocked off.

The threat, which was received via e-mail, was directed partly to Uppsala District Court and partly to the District Court's head Catarina Barketorp. At the same time, similar threats were sent to other district courts in the country and also to a news editor. The threats sent the man from the closed care facility where he was currently receiving forensic psychiatric care. The man has acknowledged the deeds in interrogation.

- Since the person has admitted that he committed the crimes, the verdict was expected, says Catarina Barketorp.

What was it like to get a threat directed at both your workplace and you personally?

- It was split. Because the threat was directed at me personally, I was granted protection, while at the same time as a manager I also have responsibility for the district court. We have talked about the event afterwards in our crisis group and developed a plan on how we should act if a similar situation happens again, says Carina Barketorp.

In addition to six cases of threats against an official and four cases of false alarm, the man is convicted of six cases of illegal threats and violation of contact ban. The verdict was announced at Nyköping District Court on Tuesday. The 35-year-old has previously been convicted of similar crimes against various officials and is not a resident of Uppsala County.
