Three men were tried on Monday before the criminal court of Rennes for having kidnapped an octogenarian during the burglary of his home. Only one of the defendants was present at the hearing, the other two being still on the run, reports Ouest-France. The events took place during the night of September 2 to 3, 2018 in Chantepie, southeast of Rennes. After breaking into the house of the 84-year-old old woman, the three individuals tied her to a chair before gagging and blindfolding her, keeping her under threat of a knife.

The burglars left with cash, leaving the victim tied up. The latter had finally managed to free herself and raise the alarm. The accused present at the hearing was sentenced to three years in prison. The other two, who are the subject of an arrest warrant, were sentenced to four years in prison each.
