The "vehicle hospital" has been running for 14 years

In the sequence of military hospitals, there is such a specialty hospital-the "vehicle hospital" that they tailored for the army, with a journey of more than 90,000 kilometers in 14 years. "Plateau Trip", "Western Trip", "Border Defense Trip", "Sea Frontier Trip" and "Earthquake Trip"...their footprints have spread to many remote grassroots units.

"There is no upper limit for military service, and there is no stop on the road." Grassroots officers and men gave them thumbs up. This special issue takes you into the Stomatological Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University.

Although the teeth are small, it is related to the combat effectiveness of the troops-

"Car hospital" came into being

This is a news broadcast by CCTV more than ten years ago: In the winter season, a corporal Xiao Zhu, who was on a sea mission, had a swollen face and a coma with high fever, which was once life-threatening. In a hurry, the fleet dispatched helicopters to the mission area for rescue. Diagnosed by the hospital afterwards, Xiao Zhu was suffering from pericoronitis of wisdom teeth, which caused a high fever.

That year, Zhao Yimin, the former director of the Stomatological Hospital of the Fourth Military Medical University, was very worried: what is the oral health status of grassroots officers and soldiers? Can the treatment keep up?

Soon, the research team set up by the hospital set off. They visited multiple units of the entire army and conducted an oral examination for each officer. Finally, the research team found that a very high percentage of officers and soldiers have caries, periodontitis and loose teeth, and the effective treatment rate for dental diseases is less than 10%.

On an island, the prevalence of teeth among officers and soldiers was as high as 87%; 4 out of 5 leading cadres had loose teeth.

In a certain frontier defense unit, the top soldier Xiao Liu has been troubled by dental diseases for a long time. The Stomatological Hospital in the urban area is more than 150 kilometers away from the camp. It is not easy to travel to and from, and Xiao Liu often endures like this.

Although the teeth are small, it is related to the combat effectiveness of the troops! Studies have found that under stress, emotional fluctuations and psychological imbalances caused by stress and fatigue can cause many oral diseases. It is not uncommon for teeth to break or fall off due to training bumps.

Media records: During the wars in Somalia and Iraq, the prevalence of oral diseases in the US military was as high as 23.2%, and the non-combat reduction of the US military due to oral diseases accounted for 17%. Therefore, the US military is usually equipped with a dentist.

With a research report, Zhao Yimin also felt helpless in the face of the oral health status of grassroots officers and soldiers. The treatment of oral diseases is not simply to ask for medicine, it is a relatively "specialized" in many medical categories, requiring professionals and professional equipment. However, almost all stomatological hospitals in China are concentrated in large and medium-sized cities, and it is difficult for front-line officers and soldiers to visit the stomatological hospital. At the same time, due to the strong concealment and self-healing ability of oral diseases, officers and soldiers do not pay enough attention to dental diseases, often delaying the best time for treatment.

"The grass-roots officers and soldiers need us. As the only stomatological hospital in the army, we should go out!" At the party committee of the hospital, Zhao Yimin's words resonated with "a group of people": serving the grassroots, there is no obligation.

The party committee was very lively. Zhao Yimin also pointed out that oral diagnosis and treatment cannot be done without professional equipment. Otherwise, even if the person goes down, lack of equipment support, many oral diseases cannot be diagnosed and treated. Finally, the party committee decided to develop and transform a digital field-type oral medical vehicle as soon as possible.

However, they searched the literature, but found no vehicle information with this function. The party committee of the Academy has a firm attitude and has no experience to create by itself.

The doctor holding the scalpel had to pick up the wrench for auto repair. At that time, many people were not optimistic. Several comrades in the department directly approached the dean and suggested to cancel the plan: "There is no mandatory requirement from the superior, why do we have to embarrass ourselves, and organize the personnel to walk down to the grassroots level." Zhao Yimin used a set of data and a piece of oral photographs of basic-level officers and soldiers to mobilize.

The development plan is unchanged, and the time node is unchanged. Over 56 days, nights and nights, they have nearly 100 times connected with a car modification plant, and comrades from several related departments have been to and from the car modification plant and medical equipment factory more than 40 times to participate in the modification and debugging.

At the beginning of 2006, this digital field dental medical vehicle equipped with 2 fixed chair positions and 3 sets of portable dental chair positions, equipped with dental X-rays, vehicle disinfection, craftsmanship and other systems was successfully modified!

The day the new car came back, the whole hospital was as lively as the holiday. Industry experts believe that the equipment of this medical vehicle is equivalent to the strength of the stomatology department of a central hospital, and it can be called the first "digital mobile stomatology hospital" in China.

Here comes a different medical team——

Pass on true love

On July 3, 2006, the medical team composed of more than 30 backbones led by Zhao Yimin, the then dean, went out for the first time. All the team members swore under the team's flag: "Serve the grassroots, not afraid of hardship, not afraid of sacrifice!"

However, they were in danger shortly after departure. The head nurse Zhao Ruini still clearly remembers that the heavy rain fell that day. In order to rush to the troops before dark, the vehicle was driving on a road more than 3 meters wide. The side was a cliff and the side was a cliff. The medical car wiper was worn out and was driving. The crew couldn't see the road ahead. Zhao Ruini protruded half of her body from the co-pilot position to scrub the windshield. The "female man" who had served as a soldier and suffered hardships in Altay, Xinjiang, couldn't help but sigh loudly: "You can't experience the road without going far!"

Fortunately, everything is in danger. The "vehicle-mounted hospitals" achieved good results when they first traveled: they set off from Shaanxi and traveled through Ningxia, Qinghai, Gansu, Tibet and other provinces and autonomous regions. The medical team provided oral health care and treatment for thousands of officers and soldiers in the former Tibet Military Region, and also provided free consultation for more than 500 ethnic minority compatriots.

Today it is difficult to imagine that when the medical team was formed, it was not "waiting to see" when it went to the grassroots.

On one occasion, they came to a certain department on the island, the medical equipment was unfolded for a long time, and very few people saw a doctor.

It turned out that a medical team came up every year on this island, but most of them asked about the situation, measured blood pressure, prescribed a headache-relieving medicine, and then took pictures to leave. Over time, officers and soldiers no longer "cold" the medical team.

"True service can win true respect." Facing the mistrust of officers and soldiers, the medical team expressed their understanding while holding back their strength: "Speak with action."

Many medical devices are bulky, and the deployment of equipment and the withdrawal of the site are more troublesome. They insist that they do not need a soldier and a soldier. They are all done by doctors and nurses. Women are men, men are hard workers; dental surgery requires careful operation, 70 years old Professor Liu Baolin, who often maintains a posture for a long time in the medical car, stays for a whole day; the nurse Zhao Ruini carelessly cuffed his feet when he was working, and the feet were swollen, but the medical team had little staff and could not turn. She put one leg on the stool and insisted on cleaning the teeth of the soldiers on the diagnosis and treatment table...

The officers and men of the medical team looked at them and rushed to tell each other: "A different medical team is here!" The next day, the officers and soldiers who came to see the doctor lined up. At lunch, accompanied by the chief of the army, the soldiers put the seafood that was deliberately retrieved from the beach early in the morning on the table.

The medical team moved the officers and soldiers with their own actions, and the sacrifice and dedication of the grassroots officers and soldiers always moved the medical team.

  At a certain airfield station, the medical team saw that the officers and soldiers were carrying out high-intensity, long-term training operations on the runway against the high surface temperature of 56 degrees Celsius;

On a snowy plateau, the non-commissioned officer Yang Tian who had been stationed on the plateau for 10 years was suffering from acute pulpitis and could not bear the pain.

  At a certain post in Motuo, Wang Lei, the first female medical doctor in the history of our army, came here. She overcome the altitude sickness and sent medical treatment and hugs to the soldiers;

At a site in Malan, the footsteps of female doctor Hu Yi were buckled by the soldiers with their washbasins and kept deep in the desert...

This situation, absolutely not felt in the comfortable medical building, but also encourages a stubborn medical team to go forward and succeed-"There is no limit to serve the military, and there is no stop on the road to patrol."

In the past 14 years, the "vehicle-mounted hospital" has traveled more than 90,000 kilometers, and has carried out oral medical service activities such as "plateau trip", "western trip", "border defense trip", "sea frontier trip", and "seismic zone trip".

Liu Fei, a driver with 28 years of driving experience, has traveled with the medical team 9 times. To prevent sleepiness on the road, he smoked up to six packs of cigarettes a day. The farthest time, he ran more than 1,100 kilometers a day, and has traveled without accident so far.

For more than 10 years, hospital leaders have changed several times, and medical vehicles have been updated for several generations, but "vehicle hospitals" have been constantly running, entering more military camps, and approaching more soldiers. Their biggest wish is to extend the "vehicle hospital" to the entire army and become a normalized support model for grassroots troops.

Lip balm is cheap, but love is priceless——

Just for the needs of officers and men

For Wang Xiaojuan, former director of the Department of Pharmacy of the Stomatological Hospital, the most meaningful thing to do in this life is to develop a plateau lip balm.

Although the cost of each lip balm is only 6 yuan, it has become the seventh drug in the army to be queued up by the Ministry. It has cumulatively supplied 18 million units of plateau troops. Plateau officers and soldiers said: "Lip balm is cheap, but love is priceless."

In 2006, Wang Xiaojuan went to the Tibet Plateau with the medical team and conducted an oral disease investigation on more than 1,000 plateau officers and soldiers. They found that due to the influence of climate and other factors in the plateau area, a considerable number of officers and soldiers suffered from plateau cheilitis, red lips and dry mouth and mouth mucous membranes, desquamation, chapped, and even swelling and crusting, which not only caused diet, language, etc. Physical dysfunction also affects the combat readiness training and daily life of the majority of officers and soldiers.

Looking at the tortured officers and soldiers, Wang Xiaojuan was very disgusted. After the task, she brought the survey results and related data back to the hospital, and applied to the party committee of the hospital for the research and development of the "Plateau Lip Balm" topic.

Someone persuaded her: "This subject is too small, and you can't win awards. You are in the period of career advancement. It is better to set your goals in emerging fields." Facing the reminders of kind people, Wang Xiaojuan hesitated, but when she recalled the officers and soldiers Because of the chapped lips and bleeding, they dare not open their mouths even when they eat or speak, and their hearts become more firm: "Whether it is a prize or not, as long as it is useful to officers and soldiers, personal gains and losses are nothing!"

Wang Xiaojuan led the research group into the laboratory, and soon developed a cheilitis ointment. But when I tried it on the plateau, the lip balm solidified into a candle shape and I couldn't use it at all.

Wang Xiaojuan was not discouraged, and took the research team to drive more than 10 times to station a number of plateau troops to collect data. Wudaoliang, with an elevation of more than 4,600 meters above sea level, is the most difficult place on the Qinghai-Tibet line and the most prone to altitude sickness. In order to obtain first-hand data, the research team went there three times in succession to eat and live with the soldiers and test the medicine.

In 2009, after three years of unremitting efforts, the plateau lip balm passed the expert review and was approved to formally install the plateau troops. When Wang Xiaojuan personally sent the first batch of lip balm to the plateau troops, the officers and soldiers greeted with drums and drums. At that moment, Wang Xiaojuan was excited and proud.

Word of mouth and trophies, what should we value? In the stomatological hospital, there are many people like Wang Xiaojuan. Whenever the "vehicle hospital" goes to the grassroots, everyone actively signs up and rushes to follow the car. The officers and soldiers of the hospital have basically gone through the rounds, and some have even been to many times.

Jin Yan, the director of the Engineering Research and Development Center who has followed the medical team eight times, has deeply felt: "Only when you approach the officers and soldiers and understand the troops, can you have a grasp of scientific research and research, and have direction for serving soldiers."

It was based on the solid research results that Jinyan created the "Development and Tissue Repair Laboratory". In the past, regardless of peacetime and wartime, various skin traumas, burns and ulcers, etc. of officers and soldiers, because there is no alternative source of skin, they have always adopted the method of "digging up one piece" to cause new wounds to officers and soldiers. And pain. After leading the research team through thousands of tests, Jin Yan finally overcame the key technology of skin regeneration in vitro and successfully developed tissue-engineered skin to fill the gap in this field of our army.

In recent years, in order to accurately understand the needs of grassroots officers and soldiers, the medical team has issued more than 1 million questionnaires in patrols to establish health records for hundreds of thousands of officers and soldiers, and comprehensively understand the dental health of grassroots officers and soldiers. The hospital randomly carried out 17 military medical researches including "Treatment and Rehabilitation of Maxillofacial Warfare Trauma", "Development of Field Oral Medical Equipment" and "Development of Drugs for Prevention and Treatment of Oral Diseases under Military Operation Conditions". Among them, the high altitude medical liquid therapy device and oral hyperoxic liquid developed by Xu Lixian, the director of the Department of Anesthesiology, created a new channel for oxygen therapy in the plateau, and won the first prize of the Army Science and Technology Progress Award and the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

Both "give fish" and "give fish" are indispensable-

Leave a "do not go medical team"

"You can't brush your teeth for less than a few minutes at a time?" "What risks might vigorous exercise increase for your teeth?"

At an airport in the Air Force, the medical team took advantage of the gap in grassroots services to organize an oral knowledge contest. Officers and soldiers participated actively, actively learning oral care knowledge and mastering oral health skills.

"The first-line officers and soldiers need not only health diagnosis and treatment, but also scientific health concepts and effective health skills." At the beginning of the establishment of the "vehicle hospital", the party committee of the hospital realized that the number of basic services under the dental service and the benefits were limited. But the oral protection of officers and soldiers can not be interrupted throughout the day. Both "give fish" and "give fish" are necessary, not only to send medicine and medicine to officers and soldiers through lower-level services, but also to popularize and promote relevant skills and knowledge, leaving a "do not go medical team" .

In a unit along the coast, the medical team was praised by the officers and men as "a propaganda team to spread oral health and a coaching team to train protective skills." Over the years, they have held more than 200 oral health science knowledge lectures in grassroots units, and distributed more than 200,000 copies of the "Manual Oral Health Handbook" and "100 Questions of Military Oral Health" to the grassroots officers and soldiers along the way, effectively enhancing the self-care awareness of officers and soldiers. Protection skills.

The mission of the army is to fight. The hospital's "Serious facial and trauma defects and deformities morphological repair and functional reconstruction" "Maxillofacial warfare trauma clinical treatment and basic theoretical research" project, won the National Science and Technology Progress Award first and second prizes. How to transform scientific research results into actual combat skills as soon as possible, the research group Professor Leidelin led the formation of an emergency unit, formulated a rehearsal plan, and compiled and printed thousands of "maxillofacial warfare emergency rescue manuals". They went to five brigade-level units one after another, carried out multiple batches of demonstrations, and trained all frontline health workers. A leader of a warship group said with emotion: "Thanks to this medical team, we have supplemented the courses that we have been trying to do for many years but have not done."

The medical team also found during the inspection that many of the dental treatment equipment distributed by the superiors for units above the regiment were "layed" in the warehouse due to the lack of professional operators. The party committee of the hospital realized that it was impossible to fundamentally solve these problems by relying only on its limited troop visits every year. It must rely on the hospital's high-quality educational resources to train a group of rooted and skilled dental professionals.

Urgent forces are anxious and anxious for fighting. In the case of tight funding, the college has invested more than 30 million yuan to build a "national teaching demonstration center". In addition to carrying out the training tasks given by the superiors in accordance with the regulations, they also pay for their own expenses, organize teaching power, and reserve places for the grassroots, as long as At the grassroots level, all demands are received unconditionally.

According to Zhang Ming, the dean of the hospital, adhering to the tenet of first-class technology for the soldiers, first-class achievements for the war, and first-class talents for the military, the hospital has held 17 sessions of oral medicine throughout the military in recent years. Professional training courses in diagnosis and treatment technology, free training of more than 1,000 military doctors independently selected by the grass-roots troops, and trained more than 90% of the stomatologists and stomatology directors of the army, which has alleviated the shortage of stomatologists at the grass-roots units.
