June 23, 2020 La Dia di Trapani, coordinated by the Prosecutor of the Republic of Marsala, has confiscated property for a value of 250 thousand euros against the injured Gaspare Como, merchant of Castelvetrano (TP) and brother-in-law of Matteo Messina Denaro (for having married Sister Bice Maria), already under special public security surveillance, currently detained for mafia-type criminal association. The confiscation was ordered by the Court of Marsala at the end of the criminal proceedings which led to his sentencing to 3 years and 6 months of imprisonment, for fraudulent transfer of values, and, for concurrence in the same crime, to the penalty of one year and six months paid by Gianvito Paladino and Bice Maria Messina Denaro. The sentence, fully confirmed by the Court of Appeal of Palermo, became final following the declaration of inadmissibility by the Supreme Court of Cassation, regarding the appeal lodged by the convicts. The assets subject to final confiscation, already seized by the DIA in 2013, they are a commercial clothing sales business, a 200 sq m premises located in Castelvetrano - owned by Valentina Como (sister of Gaspare) and an expensive large-displacement car.

Investigative activities have revealed how Gaspare Como while serving the measure of special public security surveillance, after having expiated a long detention in prison, had started a thriving commercial activity, well known in Castelvetrano, and continued to invest in movable property and properties, as well as in companies, by registering everything to third parties, in an attempt to escape the application of asset prevention measures. The traceability of these assets to his person has been demonstrated through the examination of the bank movements of the suspects (on whose accounts only Como operated, also affixing false signatures) and of the telephone interceptions on the users of the companies, which were found to be managed in an occult way For these events, in 2018, he was again subjected to special public security surveillance, on the proposal of the Director of the DIA, and arrested, together with Rosario Allegra (another brother-in-law of Matteo Messina Denaro, later deceased) and numerous other alleged affiliated to Cosa Nostra, because considered the 'regent' of the mafia family of Castelvetrano.
