Iranian-British appeal from prison to Boris Johnson

In recent months, Iran has exchanged prisoners with other countries. The United States, France and even Germany were particularly affected. It is in this context that a 66-year-old man, possessing dual Iranian and British nationality, launched an appeal from the prison where he has been held for almost three years.

Anousheh Ashoori, that is his name, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for "spying" for the benefit of Israel, which he and his relatives denied. Behind bars Anousheh Ashoori has been able to make his voice heard and he speaks directly to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. "  Dear Mr. Johnson, I salute you from Evin Prison. My fear is that we have been forgotten by the government,  ”added the prisoner, who said that he spoke on behalf of several detainees with dual Iranian and British nationality.

66-year-old Anoosheh Ashoori "desperately" asks for London's help and says he dreads the coronavirus that is wreaking havoc in Iran. It was the wife of Anoosheh Ashouri who recorded her husband's message during one of their telephone conversations authorized by the Iranian prison. “  We have no Israeli friends, we have never been to Israel. My husband has never worked for the government and has never had access to state secrets  , "says Sherry Izadi, who claims the innocence of her husband, arrested in 2017 while visiting his mother in Iran, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for spying.

For Anoosheh Ashouri's wife, it is obvious that the Iranian authorities want to exchange her husband. “We are 100% sure it is what they want. Foreign Minister Zarif has said very often and openly, on Twitter and in interviews, that they are always ready for a prisoner swap "

The family of Anoosheh Ashouri also believes that Iran could seek to obtain from London the repayment of an old debt of several hundreds of millions of euros.
