June 23, 2020 "Taxes? We have lowered them. From 1 July there will be higher wages for 16 million workers thanks to the determination of the Pd for the budget law of 2020. From September there will be no more superticket on health. This government has already lowered taxes and raised wages. " Nicola Zingaretti writes it on his Facebook page. "With the same determination, the majority should close chapters that have been open for too long, linked to the Italian rebirth: I think of Alitalia, Autostrade or the former Ilva of Taranto. Everyone has said it, even President Conte, but now we really have to close These are the first concrete facts of a real restart and an Italian rebirth ", adds the dem secretary.

VAT cutting
The cutting of VAT agitates the government. Giuseppe Conte's idea collects the coldness of Pd and Italia Viva. The mention of the possibility of making a VAT cut, made by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, was not liked by the dem executives who aim to cut the tax wedge for companies after having guaranteed it to workers. The Minister of Ecomomia, Roberto Gualtieri, also calls for caution.

Maretta for Regional
"Alliances around the candidates supported by the Democratic Party are the only ones who can stop the right, the rest is the eternal return of old vices of a degeneration of the personalistic and self policy. Tafazzi was not invented by accident. This is the truth". And 'the appeal launched then by Zingaretti, in the aftermath of the unit candidates of the center-right to the Regionals, against separate candidates by the majority forces.

Warning from the right
The risk of handing over the country to the right is real: the alarm in the Democratic Party has triggered after the choice of Italy alive to support an alternative candidate to Michele Emiliano in Puglia. For this reason Zingaretti broke the delay by defining "ridiculous" the arguments that still hold back the alliances of the center-left united in the regions: "The right-wingers fight united in all the Regions, even if they are often divided in the opposition. Fortunately with weak candidates, contested and rejected in the past by the voters. On the other hand, among the political forces united in support of the Conte government, no, but, if, perhaps, divisions prevail. The reason is ridiculous: Italy can be governed together 4 years , but not a Region or a Municipality because this would mean a strategic alliance. Ridiculous! ".

The Puglia case
The stakes are high because it will be played out in full Phase 3, in the autumn, when the government's initiatives to face the crisis will be put to the test. At the moment the Renzians in Puglia do not support the outgoing governor, Michele Emiliano, while the 5 star Movement in Naples has already presented one of his candidates. Only in Liguria could the alliance between Pd and M5s appear. For this reason, Nicola Zingaretti and his staff are increasingly convinced that a united, compact left center is needed to face the right which, in these hours, has found the square on the names of the candidates in the regions and on the scheme for those in the municipalities. . Of course, as Michele Emiliano points out, the center right does not make primaries. It is equally true, however, that the possibility of seeing Pd, Leu, Italia Viva and M5s together becomes more complicated by the hour.

Negotiations in Liguria and Campania
The candidate's game is still open in Liguria, where Leu and M5s are stuck on the name of the journalist Ferruccio Sansa, waiting for the Democratic Party to make an alternative name. Center left divided, at least at the moment, also in Campania where the M5s will support Valeria Ciarambino, while the Democratic Party and Article 1 (Italian Left has not yet chosen) support Vincenzo De Luca against the center-right candidate, Stefano Caldoro, in a re-release the challenge of 2015.

The hypotheses in Tuscany and Marche are still very open for the Democratic Party and the center left. In such a jagged scenario, the fear of the dem is that the measures taken for economic recovery may also weigh on the result and on the government. The resources put in place, by the government and the European Union, are important but, in order to be effective, they need to be better addressed. This is the main concern of the dem and on this a new front seems to open in the majority.

Attack on the secretary
With the Pd engaged on the double front of the measures for the restart and the search for a solution for the local alliances, the dems make a wall in defense of the secretary, object of the attack by Giorgio Gori. In parliamentary circles, the move by the mayor of Bergamo as "precipitous" and "untimely" is commented. Because, with the country bent over by the Covid-19 crisis, the last thing the base needs is to open a discussion on the congress. But also because, as parliamentary sources explain, "Gori cannot imagine pulling the sprint to Stefano Bonaccini without something has changed in the government". Carlo De Benedetti also intervened on the case and made clear the suspicion of many of the dems: "Questioning Zingaretti is something that smells so much of Renzi".

Solidarity with Bentivogli
"The threats to Marco Bentivogli are very serious and we ask for clarity as soon as possible. Dear Marco, you are not alone. A hug to you from the whole community of the Democratic Party". This was written by the national secretary of the Democratic Party, Nicola Zingaretti, on Twitter.
