  • The Servier laboratories, which marketed the Mediator, appear for "improper obtaining of marketing authorization", "aggravated deception", "scam" and "homicides and involuntary injuries".
  • Withdrawn from the market in France on November 30, 2009, the Mediator is accused of having caused heart and lung diseases and is held responsible for hundreds of deaths.
  • During an implacable indictment, the prosecutor Aude Le Guilcher denounced the "relentlessness" of the firm, "ready for anything" to keep the Mediator on the market.

Condemn "a cynical choice" and a "sinister bet". After nine hours of an indictment marathon, like this Mediator river trial which lasted nine months, the prosecutor Aude Le Guilcher asked the court to sentence the Servier laboratories to the maximum penalty incurred. In total, the prosecution requested a fine of 8.2 million euros against the firm.

Pointing to the "devastating" consequences of the Mediator being placed on the market, the "cover-ups", "maneuvers" and "stratagems" undertaken by the laboratory to maintain the marketing of the Mediator, despite the cardiac pathologies incurred by millions of patients, the magistrate also called for a three-year prison sentence against ex-number 2 of the Servier group, Jean-Philippe Seta. A fine of 200,000 euros has been requested against the Medicines Safety Agency, deemed "defective" by the prosecution.
