China News Service, June 23, according to Korean media reports, an outbreak occurred in a Russian refrigerated transport ship docked in Busan Port, South Korea. As of 22nd local time, 16 of the 21 crew members on board were diagnosed with the new crown virus. The staff of the quarantine office said that although the remaining five crew members tested negative for the new coronavirus, they may still be re-examined.

According to reports, the ship came from Vladivostok and started berthing at Ganchuan Port in Busan City on the morning of the 19th of this month. The South Korean side was informed that the captain of the ship returned to Russia with a fever about a week ago and was diagnosed with the new coronavirus. Subsequently, the quarantine office conducted a test of the crew on board. The epidemic prevention department believes that the captain is likely to be the source of infection in this mass epidemic.

At present, all crew members are isolated on board, and those diagnosed will be sent to Busan Medical Center and other institutions for medical treatment.

In addition, about 160 shipping union members are being isolated, and they are mostly responsible for unloading and repairing ships. At least 34 other workers were also determined to be in close contact because they were in isolation. Most of them reportedly did not take appropriate precautions, such as wearing masks.
