According to Linde, there is a misunderstanding of the situation in Sweden.

- It has been believed that we have increased the spread of infection because we have an increased investment in testing.

It was last week that Ann Linde (S) was interviewed in German Deutsche Welles program "Conflict zone". There, the Foreign Minister was pressed on questions about Sweden's corona strategy, the high death rates and whether Sweden has misjudged the strategy during the pandemic.

The Swedish strategy

Among other things, Linde was asked a question in the interview about how Sweden can defend the Swedish strategy. Ann Linde says, among other things, that Sweden has succeeded in flattening the curve. But in its latest report, the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC) writes that none of the Scandinavian countries has reached the pandemic.

Now Ann Linde answers.

- They show that the spread of infection goes up because we have tested massively, but on the contrary, it goes down when it is the number of dead, when it comes to people in medical places and people at IVA. They said in the interview that we had not peaked but we peaked several weeks ago and now it is on the way down, says Ann Linde.

Ann Linde also received a question about whether the Swedish strategy has favored the younger ones since older people are overrepresented among the death tolls.

Meets criticism

“Arrogant and self-sufficient answers to the world's reasonable questions about the high Swedish death rates. Bad substantiated claims about what caused the spread of infection and deaths in the country's elderly homes, ”Ulf Kristersson wrote on Facebook.

- If you insist clearly and aggressively that Sweden does not think about people's best, then I react hard, possibly a little too hard, but I think you have to look at the whole situation, says Ann Linde.

She also explains that she reacted strongly to the fact that she was confronted with statements in the interview that were not correct.

- For example, we have a significantly increased spread of infection in the country. After all, Tegnell has said that it can be perceived so abroad, as we increase the testing. It can be experienced as if there is increased infection, although it is about increased testing.
