June 22, 2020 Physical assaults, cars burned. These are just a few cases of the 559 intimidating acts that took place in 2019 against local administrators. One every 15 hours: 83 provinces involved and 336 municipalities affected, highest figure ever recorded. This is what emerges from the report 'Administrators under fire' produced by Public Notice, which underlines how, for the second time, intimidating acts have been registered in all Italian regions.

The major cases 

Among the most affected regions, Campania with 92 cases, while with 46 episodes, Lombardy is the first among the regions of the northern regions.

Who is under fire
A mayor, from a municipality of more than 20,000 inhabitants in a territory with a traditional Mafia presence, who is physically attacked or the car parked under his house is burnt: this is the identikit of the administrator under fire.

Numbers and percentages
61% of the total cases (342) occurred in the South, the rest (217) in the Center-North, where there was an increase of 5.5% compared to 2018. Overall cases in the North increased from
102 to 147, while there was a drop in the Center. 70 cases.
