22 June 2020 The carabinieri of the investigative unit of Ostia, with the collaboration of the staff of the Spanish Guardia Civil, have executed a precautionary custody order, issued by the investigating magistrate of Rome, which orders the arrest for 9 people, including three residing in Malaga , in Spain, considered for various reasons belonging to a transnational criminal group capable of importing large quantities of drugs from Spain to Italy. During the investigations, coordinated by the Rome District Anti-Mafia Directorate, large quantities of hashish, cocaine and firearms were seized between Spain, France and Italy.

The "Maveririck" operation
The investigation represents a rib of the 'Maverick' operation of October 2018 thanks to which 42 people were arrested, including AP and FDF, believed to belong to a criminal organization in Ostia, with interests mainly in drug trafficking and crimes such as extortion, kidnapping, aggravated theft, illegal possession of weapons, receiving stolen property and aggravated threat. These 9 arrested would be part of a criminal organization structured on two bases: the first settled permanently in Iberian territory, the second in the city of Fiumicino, which was in charge of supplying the group of already known drugs.

The seizures
During the investigation, important seizures of weapons and drugs were carried out and, in particular: on 8 May 2018 at the Customs of Saintes Marie de la Mer, in France, they were found aboard a camper van from Spain and directed in Rome 325 kg of hashish; on 26 August 2018, various weapons were seized in Frascati; on September 14, 2018, in Rome, a load of 56.7 kg of hashish, 427 g of cocaine, 550 g of marijuana, as well as two semi-automatic pistols stopped.
