“The vaccine is given twice. Moreover, the same gene is introduced on different carriers, which makes it possible not only to obtain protective protective immunity, but to receive it for an extended period of time, ”said Gunzburg.
According to him, this ensures that those who receive this vaccine will have immunity for at least two years.
The long duration of the drug was proven in a joint work with the Russian Ministry of Defense on Ebola virus vaccines in African Guinea.
“Since the vaccine against coronavirus was created on the same principle and on the same platform, there is a large share of confidence that in this case, the immunity that protects us will not last for three, four, five or six months, and at least two years or more, ”concluded Gunzburg.
He also said that up to 70 million doses of the drug may be required to start mass vaccination of the population against a new coronavirus infection.
Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) suggested that immunity to coronavirus can persist in patients with COVID-19 from six months to a year.
