Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, hottest days

"Tuesday, temperatures will generally reach 26 to 30 ° C on the northern half, 28 to 33 ° C on the southern half", with a particularly marked heat in the plains of the Southwest. "Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be the three hottest days", specifies Météo-France, with the mercury reaching or exceeding 30 ° C "on most regions". "We will very often reach 32 to 34 ° C from the southwest to Ile-de-France as well as in regions close to the Rhone valley," says Météo-France. "The threshold for very hot weather (35 ° C) could be exceeded locally."

Minimum temperatures may exceed 20 ° C "in large cities or around the Mediterranean", especially Thursday and Friday.

2020 follows the same trend as 2019

2019 was the third hottest year in mainland France - after 2018 and 2014 -, marked by two exceptional heat waves and an absolute record of 46 ° C. 2020 is part of the same trend, with a winter that has experienced mild records and a spring that has been the second warmest on record.

With global warming, heat waves could be twice as numerous by 2050, forecasts Météo-France.
