The mediation committee in South Sudan officially announced on Friday that the Sudanese parties signed the initials of the peace agreement scheduled for Saturday, without specifying another date, according to the Sudan News Agency quoted the deputy chairman of the committee, Du Matok.

Mutouk confirmed the existence of - what he described - as the "objective reasons" that prevented the signing of the peace agreement in the initials, according to the predetermined date.

He added that there are some difficulties that faced the negotiating process, which were represented in the delay in discussing security arrangements in the Darfur path, as well as the delay in the authority file by the participating organizations.

He revealed a visit to the Sudanese government delegation to Juba on Sunday, headed by Muhammad Hamdan Daglo (Hamidati), Vice-President of the Sovereign Council, and Council Member Shamsuddin Kabashi, to discuss the remaining issues.

He announced the progress of the Darfur track by proposing an alternative to the joint African Union-United Nations Mission in the Darfur region (UNAMID) after its departure to contribute to providing security for the displaced and refugees, without revealing its details.

The "Popular Movement North" in Sudan announced Thursday (the day before yesterday) that the signing of the peace agreement between the government and the revolutionary front, which consists of several movements, was scheduled for Saturday (today), for a week.

The Juba negotiations focus on five tracks, the first is the Darfur region (west), the second is the state of South Kordofan (south) and the Blue Nile (southeast), the third is eastern Sudan, and the fourth is northern Sudan, and the last is the central Sudan track.

The establishment of peace in Sudan is one of the most prominent files on the table of the Abdullah Hamdouk government during a transitional period that started on August 21, and lasts for 39 months ending with elections, during which power is shared by the army and the Alliance for the Declaration of Freedom and Change, the leader of the popular movement.
