“In total, from the beginning of the fire hazard period of 2020, more than 6 thousand fires occurred with a total area of ​​over 990 thousand hectares. The largest number of them were in the Republic of Buryatia, Transbaikal, Krasnoyarsk, Primorsky, Khabarovsk Territories, Bryansk, Irkutsk, Smolensk regions, Kemerovo region, Jewish Autonomous Region, ”the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

It is noted that among the main causes of forest fires are reckless handling of fire and deliberate arson of dry grass.

Earlier, the Ministry of Emergencies noted a decrease in the number of natural fires in Russia in 2020.
