The Yemeni government said today that the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council "carried out a full-fledged coup in the Socotra Governorate" in the far southeast.

The Yemeni Foreign Minister, Muhammad al-Hadrami, warned that continuing the uncontrolled transitional council rebellion would end the remaining hope for implementing the Riyadh agreement.

The official Yemeni News Agency quoted an official source in the government as saying that the militias of the so-called transitional council in the Socotra Archipelago undermined the state institutions in the governorate. And government headquarters. "

The government official called on the Saudi-led coalition to compel the council to "stop the messing around, chaos and aggression carried out by its militia, and implement the terms of the Riyadh agreement."

The recognized government and the transitional council signed in November 2019 in Saudi Arabia the Riyadh agreement after a month of fighting, and the agreement included 29 articles to address the political, economic, military and security conditions in the south, but the two sides exchange accusations about responsibility for not implementing the agreement.

Socotra and Aden are our country and it is protected by history, constitution, international law and the will of thirty million Yemenis, and we will recover it even after twenty years.
Unfortunately, this prolongation of the rights of the Yemeni people and their land takes place in the presence of those we trust and I mean: Saudi Arabia, the great Arab entity responsible to history, the world, and the Yemeni people.

Al-Hadrami’s warning
In the same context, Yemen’s Foreign Minister, Muhammad al-Hadrami, said, “The continuation of the armed rebellion carried out by the Emirati-backed transitional council in Socotra without deterrence will end all remaining hope in the implementation of the Riyadh agreement, which originally came to end it.” Council mutiny.

Minister Al-Hadrami added in tweets on Twitter that the Riyadh agreement could not be accepted as a pretext for the continuation of this armed rebellion, or as a pressure tool to legitimize those who insist on its coup.

Anatolia news agency reported that activists loyal to the transitional council showed pictures on Saturday inside the local authority building in Socotra governorate and inside the governor's office, as they hoisted the UAE flag alongside the emblem of the transitional council.

Urgent Governor # Socotra Ramzi Mahrous: The governorate is witnessing a massive chaos by the Emirati-backed transitional militia that invaded Hadibo and exposed us and the people of the governorate to a failed and silent suspicion from whom we expect victory and support.

Arrest of a commander
In a related context, a local source of Anatolia - who asked not to be named - stated that the gunmen of the Transitional Council arrested the commander of the Air Force camp in Socotra, Colonel Abdul Rahman Al-Zafni, and transferred him to an unknown location.

The Transitional Council, which expelled government forces from the temporary capital, Aden, announced last April a state of public emergency, and the inauguration of what it called self-administration in southern Yemen, amid Arab and international rejection.
