June 20, 2020 The Pope today received a representation of doctors, nurses and health workers from Lombardy.

"Dear doctors and nurses, the world has been able to see how well you have done in a situation of great trial. Even if exhausted, you have continued to commit yourself with professionalism and self-sacrifice. And this generates hope. You have been one of the pillars of the whole country My sincere esteem and thanks go to you here and to your colleagues from all over Italy, and I know very well that I understand everyone's feelings ", words that are also written in a Pontifex tweet .

"Do not forget that with your work, all of you, doctors, paramedics, volunteers, priests, religious, lay people, who have done this, have begun a miracle. Have faith and, as that tailor said, the theologian who has failed: 'I never have found that God has begun a miracle without ending it well '(Manzoni, Promessi sposi, chap. 24). May this miracle that you have begun end well ", added Bergoglio.

"It is time to treasure all this positive energy that has been invested. Do not forget! It is a wealth that in part certainly went 'in the end', in the drama of the emergency; but in large part it can and must bear fruit for the present and future of Lombard and Italian society ".

"The pandemic has deeply affected people's lives and the history of the communities. To honor the suffering of the sick and the many deceased, especially the elderly (...), we need to build tomorrow: it requires commitment, strength and everyone's dedication ".

As for the World Day dedicated to refugees, Francis entrusts  his tweet to another tweet "in the refugees and displaced persons, Jesus is present, forced, as in the time of Herod, to flee to save himself. In their faces we are called to recognize the face of Christ who challenges us. And then we will thank him for being able to love and serve him. #worldrefugeeday ".
