It was in the summer of 2018 that a person under the age of 18 received medicine for the treatment of tuberculosis through the pediatric and adolescent medical clinic at the hospital in Skövde. Only a few months later, however, the patient received cardiac arrest and death. According to the Swedish Forensic Medicines Agency's investigation, the person probably died of too high a dose of isoniazid, which is the active substance in the drug with which the patient was treated.

A relative of the patient has reported the incident to the Inspection for Health and Care (IVO), which now criticizes the care received by the patient.

The doctor from the hospital had called the medical center and informed about the need for a follow-up examination, but no formal referral was sent and the medication was not followed up by neither the medical center nor the hospital.
