The book "The room where it happened: a White House memoir" has been reviewed by the court since the White House wanted to stop it. The reason has been that the book contains secretly stamped material and that Bolton has breached a confidentiality agreement. But excerpts have been published in several US media ahead of its release next week.

In the book, Bolton claims, among other things, that President Donald Trump asked his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping about Chinese support purchases of US soybeans to improve his chances of winning the next election.

Bolton was fired in September by Trump.
