  • New stage: Pablo Iglesias and Irene Montero shield themselves in Podemos with their core of trust

New coup of command of Pablo Iglesias in Podemos. Eleven territories have held primaries to elect a new autonomous leader and in all of them they have either won the candidates sponsored by the secretary general (Andalusia, Valencia, Murcia, La Rioja, Aragon, the Basque Country, Catalonia, Madrid and Extremadura) or well-seen candidates through the dome (Castilla-La Mancha and Cantabria). In this way, the secretary general takes full control of the formation and ends the wayward territories that disagreed with Madrid's strategy and management. Iglesias, who had already drawn up a completely related national leadership, now ensures that he has control of the regions with his faithful at the helm.

For a long time, one of the purposes of the Podemos state leadership was to relieve those regional leaders and regional leaderships that did not share the party's course or did not accept the impositions that came from Madrid. These are the cases of Andalusia , Aragon or the Basque Country . And in other cases there was a need to put an end to managers that emerged due to the judicialization of the primaries or because the leaders had left. For example, Cantabria , La Rioja , Castilla-La Macha , Madrid or Valencia .

New regional leaders of Podemos

Andalusia : elected regional coordinator Martina Velarde with 5,573 votes (72.8%), followed by María Jesús Castaño with 931 votes (12.2%) and Miguel Aguilera with 635 votes (8.3%).

Aragon : elected regional coordinator Maru Díaz with 1,267 votes (56.1%), followed by Itxaso Cabrera with 771 votes (34.2%) and Lorena López with 219 votes (9.7%).

Cantabria : elected regional coordinator Luis del Piñal with 400 votes (100%).

Castilla-La Mancha : elected regional coordinator José Luis García Gascón with 1,055 votes (54.6%), followed by Helena Galán with 876 votes (45.4%).

Catalonia : elected regional coordinator Concepción Abellán with 2,961 votes (64.4%), followed by Noelia Bail with 1,089 votes (23.7%) and Manuel Galiñanes with 323 votes (7%).

Community of Madrid : elected regional coordinator Jesús Santos with 9,301 votes (100%).

Valencian Community : elected autonomous coordinator Pilar Lima with 2,206 votes (44.7%), followed by Naiara Davo with 2,168 votes (43.9%) and Fernando Navarro with 560 votes (11.3%).

Basque Country : elected regional coordinator Pilar Garrido with 1,371 votes (84.1%) followed by María Luisa Gadea with 260 votes (15.9%).

Extremadura : elected regional coordinator Irene de Miguel with 586 votes (100%).

La Rioja : elected regional coordinator Aránzazu Carrero with 205 votes (39.4%), followed by Sara Carreño with 188 votes (36.1%) and Germán Cantabrana with 82 votes (15.8%).

Murcia Region : elected regional coordinator Javier Sánchez with 1,115 votes (100%).

To undertake this sort of reconquest of power, the internal machinery has worked to articulate official candidacies, hand in hand with the directives of the team of Churches, in eight of these regions. Under the initials of Un Podemos Contigo , with which Iglesias has already revalidated the General Secretariat in the state assembly, Javier Sánchez (Murcia), Pilar Lima (Valencian Community), Jesús Santos (Madrid), Martina Velarde ( Andalucía), Conchi Abellán (Catalonia), Pilar Garrido (Basque Country), Maru Díaz (Aragón) and Arantxa Carrero (La Rioja).

Of these eight candidates, six -all except Diaz and Carrero- are part of the State Citizen Council , the highest governing body between assemblies, as they were on the list of Churches. One more example of the armor that it seeks: to have all the communities under control.

They are joined by Irene de Miguel Pérez , candidate to lead Podemos Extremadura, who, although she does not use the Un Podemos Contigo brand, has the full support of the Iglesias team and, in fact, is part of the Executive Commission, a new body Podemos has created as an intermediate step between the Executive - hard core - and the State Citizen Council.

Fight in Valencia and La Rioja

All in all, these primaries venture that Podemos's wounds are not closed in all territories. The fracture and the internal battle is reflected above all in two communities, Valencia and La Rioja, where the results have been very tight. In the first, the official candidate competed with Naiara Davo , spokesperson in the Valencian Courts, after weeks of dialogue they did not reach an agreement for a joint list.

In the case of La Rioja, Aránzazu Carrero has imposed himself on Sara Carreño , former national deputy and current director of the Human Rights Observatory of the autonomous government, and who had the support of the leaders of the training present in this community and who disagree from the direction taken by Pablo Iglesias.
