  • Descaling: the keys to the new normality in Madrid

There will be no hugs to Dora, the explorer, nor will the stars of La Warner parade or take pictures of the scared faces of the visitors. The amusement parks and zoos in Madrid are preparing to open their doors this Monday with the arrival of the new normal.

At least, it will be possible to yell in the roller coasters , not like it has been in Japan, where customers are forced to remain silent and not scream during attractions.

The Amusement Park and the Casa de Campo Zoo, the Warner Park of San Martín de la Vega, Faunia, in Vicálvaro and the Atlantis aquarium, in the Xanadú shopping center, -all of them from the Parques Reunidos group- will begin this Monday their journey after the arrival of the Covid-19 with a capacity of 50% . The water parks have decided to wait until July 1 to open their facilities.

These parks have in their favor the huge outdoor space they have, but the handicap that many different people feel at the attractions throughout the day. So disinfection is going to play a key role.

"All the facilities are going to be disinfected in the pre-opening of the park and in the middle of the day. We will also pass disinfectant liquid after each cycle in the handles. It will be mandatory to use a mask and spray hydroalcoholic gel on boarding each attraction," says Diego Gracia Lovaco, CEO of Parques Reunidos for Spain and Italy.

Ensuring social distancing is another of the headaches of those responsible for parks. To avoid crowds , tickets will be taken online so that users can access them directly through the lathes with digital ticket reading.

At each attraction , the seating arrangement has been studied in order to maintain the separation between people who do not live together. The safety distances of 1.5 meters in the boarding queues will also be respected.

The shows and entertainment shows at the amusement park and the Warner, which were held on the street, will be transferred to the theaters of the venues, with a third of the capacity.

To avoid any kind of physical contact, the plans for the parks will not be distributed, nor will the photos be distributed at the end of the visit. In addition, special disinfection work will be carried out in the toilets and stores, where the use of gloves will be mandatory .

Although they can open with 50% capacity, the parks and zoos are going to start little by little. In fact, in Faunia, where there are 20,000 people, they will only allow 2,500 people to enter .

"The general trend is going to be to open below 50% capacity and do a training to see how the activities develop. After two months of confinement, people need a release and we are going to go out of our way to have all the measures of disinfection in order to safely enjoy the attractions, "concludes Gracia Lovaco.
