Dr. Anas Ghassan Obaid, along with his fellow doctors and health-care workers on the first line of defense, has been contributing to the fight against "Covid 19" nearly five months ago, sharing with them their suffering due to leaving their families and homes to devote themselves to serving the sick and helping them recover quickly.

He says he considers the patients in the quarantine to be his family members, until the pandemic is completely gone.

Obaid works 16 hours a day since he volunteered to practice his humanitarian and professional duties in the national campaign «Emirates Volunteer», whose platforms included multiple fields of specialized field volunteering and virtual volunteering.

He says that he gets a one-day vacation every two weeks, and he spends it in his room at the work site, adding that he needed patients during the isolation period, even during the holiday, so that they did not feel alone.

Doctors and volunteer workers in the first line of defense confirm that the greatest challenge in their work is not to endure long hours and follow-up to treat patients and fight disease itself, but rather to raise patients ’morale, and to convince them that their psychological condition is a safety valve in the battle to defeat the virus.

Regarding the psychological and moral support messages that Ubaid uses to stretch his patients, he said that he repeats that doctors and health workers are not only treating them, but they are their family, and they are happy to stay by their side.

He added that he assures them that they will be able to defeat the disease, calling them to be patient, positive thinking and will, in addition to obtaining a sufficient amount of sleep, as this affects the strengthening of the capabilities of the immune system, preventing the condition from deteriorating and speeding up the recovery from the disease.

Obaid, who is currently working in the field hospital for health isolation in Abu Dhabi, said that he volunteered since the beginning of the Corona pandemic with several parties, including the National Examination Center for “Covid 19” in Ajman, affiliated with the Health Authority in Abu Dhabi, and also worked in field hospitals and buildings Sanitation of the Ministry of Health in Ajman, in addition to one of the campaigns of national sterilization in Umm Al Quwain.

He emphasized that volunteering is a duty dictated by him to return the beautiful of the Emirates, the giving country in which he lived all the years of his life, and he learned in his schools and studied medicine.

Regarding the most important difficulties he faced during providing his voluntary services, he said that the greatest difficulty is to get away from his family during the past months, as he preferred not to go home in the interest of the safety of family members.

He added that there are other volunteers from his family, but not in the medical field, which makes their presence among family members less dangerous.

Obaid added that his family is proud of his work, and encourages him to continue to provide his duty, support him psychologically and raise his morale.

He stressed that volunteer work in the field of medicine is a valuable and profound experience that increases self-confidence and creates a feeling of contentment and internal security, adding that his experience taught him to plan, patience and manage medical operations under pressure, and with the presence of a large number of patients, in addition to learning how to work with different parties involved in managing Crises.
