Five people from the Chechen community were placed in police custody this Thursday morning as part of the investigation into the violence that has occurred in Dijon in recent days, announced the prosecutor of the Burgundian capital Éric Mathais in a press release.

"  This morning, June 18, 2020, five police custody began and searches were carried out in several cities  ", in order to "  verify the first elements of this investigation  ", it was specified in the press release. Their exact role in the punitive expeditions carried out last weekend in Dijon remains to be clarified.

Between Friday and Monday, this city in eastern France was the scene of several nights of violence. The cause: several punitive expeditions carried out by members of the Chechen community against residents of the Dijon district of Grésilles who wanted to avenge the beating of a 16-year-old boy.

An investigation into attempted organized gang murder

Six objectives  " had been targeted across France, all in the regions and in the Chechen community, according to a source close to the investigation which specifies that only five of them resulted in an arrest, reports Agence France- hurry.

An investigation into attempted murder in an organized gang, intentional violence, aggravated degradations and incitement to violence was opened in this case.
