After the health aspect, it is now the economic impact of the coronavirus crisis that worries the French the most, according to an exclusive BVA survey for Europe 1 and Orange published on Thursday. A feeling that even reaches 85% of those polled regarding unemployment.

EXCLUSIVE

The economic future is uncertain and the French feel it. According to an exclusive BVA * survey for Europe 1 and Orange published this Thursday, 85% of French people are worried about the level of national unemployment. A fear fed by the 800,000 job cuts that the government anticipates in the coming months, but also by the bad announcements on jobs that affect large groups like Renault, or Air France.

Only 22% of French people believe that the worst is behind us

72% of French people are now anticipating a lasting economic crisis whose consequences will go beyond 2020, and 79% are worried about their purchasing power. It is therefore almost mechanically that the proportion of respondents who believe that in this crisis "the worst is behind us" fell sharply, after several weeks of increase since May 11, the beginning of deconfinement. They are now only 22%, against 32% during the last score made last week.

The fear of the coronavirus still present

But the economy is not the only point of concern for respondents. If the fear of catching the coronavirus stabilizes at 67% of the population (against 77% at the height of the health crisis), the majority of French people are now anticipating a second epidemic wave and a new containment (61%). Or an increase of 7 points in a week.

Stable morale and limited confidence in government action

In this context, and despite the positive announcements from Emmanuel Macron concerning restaurants or schools last Sunday, French morale remains stable. When asked "what grade, between 0 and 10, would you give to reflect its level today?", The average grade is 6.7. But still it would be necessary that the respondents have confidence in the crisis management of the government, which is the case only for 38% of them.
