"Bloomberg" said that Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the UAE, made a rare criticism of retired Libyan Major General Khalifa Hifter after the great defeats suffered by the government of national reconciliation, which enjoys international recognition.

"Some of our friends have taken their individual and unilateral decisions, and we have seen this with the Southern Transitional Council in Yemen (a reference to the separatists backed by the UAE), and we have noted this with General Haftar in Libya," the agency quoted Gargash as saying in an online forum today.

Wrong accounts

Gargash added, "It has been proven that many of these accounts issued by one party are wrong. These accounts make you sometimes not have control or moral advice that you want to offer to some of your friends."

The agency said that after the Haftar attack on the capital Tripoli collapsed this month, another of its allies, neighbor Egypt, announced a ceasefire and a political initiative to end the conflict in Libya. Haftar, who also received Russian support, endorsed the Cairo proposal.

She pointed out that the Tripoli government announced that it would not participate in any talks until after the restoration of the city of Sirte, near the Crescent Petroleum in Libya.

Gargash stated that the UAE supports the initiative developed by Egypt and the Speaker of the Libyan Parliament located in the east of the country, Aqila Saleh, and criticized Turkey.

He added that what Turkey does not understand today is that obtaining 100 km here or 200 km there will not end the crisis in Libya, and that it is now the only country that opposes an immediate ceasefire and that the next Sirte battle is beset with many problems.
