“No matter what NATO says about this decision, the political motive is obvious,” Zakharova told reporters.

According to her, in a situation where Kiev "openly sabotages the implementation of the Minsk agreements" this decision cannot be evaluated otherwise than as "purposefully encouraging the destructive course of the Ukrainian authorities."

As the diplomat noted, “by writing out new bonuses,” the countries of the alliance “in practice demonstrate their disinterest in resolving the intra-Ukrainian conflict.”

“Otherwise, it will be difficult to continue to frighten the inhabitants with a far-fetched Russian threat and to pump up the alliance’s eastern flank,” Zakharova emphasized.

Earlier, the Kremlin said it did not believe that granting Kiev the status of NATO partner helps to strengthen security and stability in Europe.
