In March, the government and the partners announced that the culture would be awarded SEK 500 million in crisis support. The Cultural Council was given responsibility to allocate 370 million of that sum.

The money is directed to cultural workers and various businesses - for example, music groups, theater ensembles and associations - who lost revenue as a result of the restriction of public gatherings due to the corona pandemic.

- We can see that the financial need is great for private cultural organizers who usually do not receive public support, but are dependent on public revenue, says Kajsa Ravin, Director General of the Cultural Council.

The Tyrol is most awarded

On Monday and Tuesday, the decisions came. In Småland, the Tyrol theme park in Blädinge is the most supported. Total SEK 952 100.

The second most cultural support in Småland is awarded to Vibes Nzuri AB - an amount of SEK 530 300. SEK 407 100 is awarded the third place on the Småland list - Wibrowski and Partner.

"Have taken into consideration"

All applications sent to the Cultural Council for access to cultural support correspond to a total of SEK 763 million. That is a sum that is more than twice the size of the 370 million available to distribute.

Half of the funds allocated go to the music area and a quarter to performing arts. Remaining funds go to actors in the visual and form field, museums, exhibition activities, literature and reading activities, as well as arts and crafts organizers and actors.

- We have taken into account the need for financial support and that the funds go to a variety of cultural expressions throughout the country, says Kajsa Ravin.
