In the aftermath of the 8th consecutive title of Bayern Munich champion, his dolphins Dortmund and Leipzig faltered Wednesday against teams which fight for the maintenance.

Borussia lost 2-0 at home to Mainz, and Leipzig conceded a 2-2 draw at Düsseldorf after leading 2-0.

. Leverkusen approaches the C1

The winner of the evening is Bayer Leverkusen. His 3-1 victory against Cologne allowed him to resume his small point lead over Mönchengladbach, winner the day before Wolfsburg (3-0).

A small crucial point two days from the end, synonymous with fourth place, and therefore the Champions League next season.

After the quick opening of the score by Sven Bender (1-0, 7th), the nugget of 21-year-old Kai Havertz doubled the bet before the break (2-0, 39th). The German press says he may no longer play for his training club next year, attracted by the sirens of the great Europeans, starting with Bayern Munich.

The third goal is the work of the young French hope Moussa Diaby, a superb conclusion after having sunk alone in the defense (3-1, 83rd).

. Mainz flees to Dortmund

On the one hand Dortmund, already qualified for the Champions League, but now without any chance of a title. On the other Mainz, 15th and on the edge of the red relegation zone, fighting for its survival.

The motivation was clearly on the side of Mainz, which fully deserved its 2-0 victory against a completely amorphous Borussia, despite the presence on the lawn of all its stars.

Jonathan Burkhardt opened the scoring (33rd), then the young Frenchman Jean-Philippe Mateta did not tremble to double the penalty put after the break (49th).

Dortmund however remains second with 66 points, and three lengths ahead of Leipzig (63 pts), which completes the podium.

. Leipzig cracks, Düsseldorf exults

The other winner of the day is Düsseldorf, who won a valuable equalizer in extra time (90 + 2) on the lawn of RB Leipzig, after being led 2-0.

This draw allows Düsseldorf (29 pts) to take a step ahead of Bremen (28 pts).

The Fortuna is therefore still 16th, in the position of a potential barrager, while Bremen is penultimate and relegated.

The last Paderborn, defeated Tuesday 1-0 by the Union Berlin, is already certain to find next year the second division, after having spent only one season among the elite.

. Schalke: Endless Black Series

For Schalke, the black series continues: beaten 2-1 in Frankfurt, the Ruhr club slips to 10th place.

Historical pillar of German football, Schalke had luckily had a good start to the season (5th at the end of the first leg), which saves him the dread of the struggle for maintenance.

But its last victory dates back to February 4 (3-2 against Hertha Berlin), and the team has since recorded eight losses and five draws. The forced break of the coronavirus has absolutely not reversed the trend.
