These excavations, initially planned before the confinement, will be carried out by soldiers on the former residence of Michel Fourniret in Ville-sur-Lumes from Monday, June 22, said a police source, confirming information from the Union newspaper . A source familiar with the matter confirmed the start of the excavations on Monday. After years of denial, the "Ogre des Ardennes" had recognized in early March, during its last interrogation in Paris, the kidnapping and murder of Estelle Mouzin, disappeared on January 9, 2003 when she returned from school in Guermantes, in Seine-et-Marne.

Now 78, the serial killer, known for his convoluted statements, had declared to the Parisian judge who had put him under investigation for "abduction and forcible confinement followed by death": "It is possible that this image upsets me (…) And I recognize there a being who is no longer there through my fault ". Michel Fourniret, who suffers from memory problems, did not reveal the place where he would have hidden the girl's body, however, asking to be brought to Guermantes.

Michel Fourniret was sentenced to incompressible life in May 2008 for seven murders, then again to life in 2018 for a heinous murder.
