17 June 2020 The first criminal section of the Catania Court of Appeal condemned Vittoria Boss, G Battista 'Titta' Ventura for death threats, attempted private violence, aggravated by the mafia method, against the deputy director of the AGI, Paolo Borrometi. Ventura, considered by the Catania District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor to be the regent of the clan, commanded by his brother Filippo, is in prison, following the "Survivors" operation carried out by the Ragusa Police in September 2017.

The Court of Appeal of Catania reformed the first instance sentence of the Court of Ragusa that had condemned Ventura for death threats and attempted private violence, with the aggravating circumstance of recidivism but without the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method. "I'll snatch your head even inside the police headquarters", threatened the boss Ventura, in one of the many contested episodes. The repentant mafia Giuseppe Pavone, Giuseppe Doilo and Rosario Avila confirmed the criminal depth of Ventura, defined as "u'ziu, the one who commands Vittoria".

The boss Ventura will also have to compensate the National and Sicilian Journalists Order, the National Press Federation, the Municipality of Vittoria and the journalist Borrometi. The Prosecutor of Catania had appealed to the first instance sentence, with the prosecutor Valentina Sincero and the civil lawyer, Vincenzo Ragazzi because the aggravation of the mafia method had been excluded. The defense of Ventura, with the lawyers Giuseppe Distefano and Maurizio Catalano, instead appealed for the existence of the fact and considering the quantification of the sentence high.

In the appeal process, the Prosecutor General asked for a two-year sentence. The sentence came this morning after yesterday's boardroom at one year and ten months, with the recognition of the aggravating mafia, in addition to death threats and attempted private violence against Borrometi. Compensation for civil parties confirmed, in addition to the order for legal fees
