France Télévisions has entrusted the management of its programs to Diego Buñuel, young director and former documentary manager at Canal + and then Netflix, which will take office on June 22, the public group announced on Tuesday.

Diego Buñuel, 45, replaces Nathalie Darrigrand, who left in January on an editorial disagreement. "His vision and his career will be as many assets for France Télévisions and for French television," said the group's number two, Takis Candilis, in a press release.

The grandson of director Luis Buñuel, Diego Buñuel was a reporter and director for the Capa agency, and presented "The New Explorers" on Canal + before taking charge of documentaries on the encrypted channel in 2014.

In January 2018, he joined Netflix as documentary manager in Europe.

"My TV career started at France Télévisions with Roots and Wings and Special Envoy. I am honored to join the Public Service and its talented teams," tweeted Diego Buñuel on Tuesday.
