After the son's trip to the sports holiday, 49-year-old Susanne Dahlqvist suddenly had a fever without any other symptoms. Since she did not get better, she went to the health center but both times the doctor said that it was not a corona but a common cold virus.

Ball around

Susanne called in 1177, referring to the local nurse who in turn referred back to the health center.

Susanne felt round-balled, dismissed and a little overbearing but accepted the message that she would cure herself at home. But the fever did not go away and Susanne got extremely sore in her head and began to vomit.

"Embarrassment"

On the twelfth day, she was so ill that her husband called an ambulance.

- I thought it was a little embarrassing and thought "it's not that dangerous." I had never called 112 myself. It felt like stepping over a boundary, being sicker than you were.

- I think it is a little in my nature not to want to be bothered, explains Susanne with a generous laugh.

Severe acid deficiency

At the Southern Hospital it was discovered that Susanne was infected with corona and that she was suffering from severe oxygen deficiency. But since she didn't seem to be suffering from shortness of breath, the staff at first thought it was wrong with the measuring equipment.

- They tried different fingers and then they picked up a new device. Both it and a blood test confirmed the low oxygen saturation. The staff thought it was strange that I seemed so normal despite the lack of oxygen.

Susanne was treated with drip and oxygen for several days but luckily was respiratory care.

- I am very happy that I came in on time and am eternally grateful to my husband. I dare not even think about what could have happened if he had not called 112.
