World Rally Championship (WRC), interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, "is studying several scenarios for a recovery in September," said the president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Jean Todt, on Monday.

"The World Rally Championship is studying several scenarios for a resumption in September, including the rescheduling of postponed events in order to guarantee the best chances of completing the 2020 season," said the director, who opened a series of conferences in line on the future of motorsport and mobility, organized by the FIA.

The number of these heats, their dates and their host countries will be announced later.

The first three events of the season were held between January and mid-March and Frenchman Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) leads the classification of drivers.

Seven of the following heats have been postponed indefinitely (Argentina, Italy) or canceled (Portugal, Kenya, Finland, New Zealand, Great Britain).

For the time being, three rallies are still scheduled on their initial date: in Turkey (September 24-27), Germany (October 15-18) and Japan (November 19-22).
