Gunnel Winther, who lives in Ronneby, thinks the statistics can be true as she thinks many young people can move from the city.

- Both houses and new schools are being built here. So I hope the governing body is watching what they do, she says.

Not counting on housing construction

The forecast that Statistics Sweden has produced is based solely on the population change during the 2010 century and does not take into account, for example, the construction of new housing.

- When there are so many error margins, it is difficult for us to use the statistics. Otherwise, statistics are important to us in order to calculate and adjust the municipal welfare, says Roger Fredriksson (M).

He believes, unlike Statistics Sweden, that there will be more people living in Ronneby 2030 than it does today.

- I'm pretty convinced. The development of housing construction that we have now is very broad, and we see that we will have about 1,000 new homes within a five-year period, he concludes.
