The accident occurred Sunday evening in Amnéville, in Moselle. A table fireplace exploded and injured a father and his one-month-old baby. The infant was severely burned while the 27-year-old male was less affected, according to France Bleu Lorraine Nord.

About fifteen firefighters went to the scene. The two victims were evacuated to CHR Metz-Thionville, where they are being treated. Table fireplaces are decorative objects that often run on ethanol and give off a slight heat.
