The area covered by the shelter is almost 70,000 hectares, which means that it is not easy to find the actual wolf.

- There have been some observations, but not so much has happened yet, says hunting leader Leif Thomsen to SVT on Monday morning.

Right now you are working on so-called base hunting. This means that hunters place themselves in places where the wolf is believed to pass and then wait for a wolf to emerge.

Hunting with a dog is not an option at this time of year as other wildlife have young and can be disturbed.

The County Administrative Board, on its own initiative, made a decision on protective hunting on June 11 after two wolf attacks were found during one week. On one occasion, two calves were killed and on the other, cattle were scared. The shelter is allowed until 30 June.

The longbow reef is located between Borensberg and Finspång. In that area, a wolf pair established themselves in winter 2017/2018, which is the first time in modern times in Östergötland.
