In Volgograd, FSB officers prevented a terrorist attack that a 14-year-old student was planning to commit. The teenager was going to blow up in his school an improvised explosive device (IED), stuffed with striking elements, in order to take revenge on a classmate.

The teenager is charged with illegal production of explosives and explosive devices (part 1 of article 223.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and preparation for the killing of two or more people in a generally dangerous way (part 1 of article 30, paragraphs “a, e”, part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the ICR reported.

During the inspection of the apartment where the teenager lived, law enforcement officers discovered IEDs, the components necessary for their manufacture, including metal striking elements, as well as 18 Molotov cocktails.

“According to the minor, he planned to take advantage of all this for entertainment purposes only - to put them into action in the beams and wastelands of Volgograd, but the investigation has reason to believe that the goal was an educational institution, and the school employee and one of the students should become a victim with which the teenager had a conflict, as well as other persons, ”the CCR website reports.

Witnesses interrogated in the case told exactly where the student tested his home-made devices.

“During the inspection [of the indicated places], it was possible to detect the unexploded IEDs, as well as the damaging elements of the powered devices,” the report said.

Now the teenager is detained and detained. Investigators do not exclude that he could have accomplices.

The prosecutor's office of the Volgograd region told RT that the supervisor took control of the criminal investigation. As part of the supervisory review, the agency will also evaluate the actions of the authorities for the prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency in the prevention of such crimes, the representative of the prosecutor’s office added.

Grew up in a single-parent family

As explained to RT in the press service of the Office of the Judicial Department of the Volgograd Region, a teenager suspected of preparing a terrorist attack was arrested for two months on June 12th. Now he is in jail. The process of choosing a preventive measure was held behind closed doors.

In turn, the FSB published a video search of the student’s apartment. The record shows how a teenager, dressed in camouflage trousers and a black T-shirt, shows a package of Molotov cocktails, explaining that he made them “about three or four months ago”.

The operatives also showed a notebook with hand-written instructions for making home-made bombs and organizing armed attacks on educational institutions.

The name of the teenager is not called, it is known that the guy was brought up in an incomplete family.

“The boy lived with his grandmother and mother. At the same time, it is not yet known for sure whether he was registered with the police, ”Natalia Rudnik, senior assistant to the head of the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee, told RT.

According to local media, we are talking about a student at school number 61. The young man allegedly was a member of a number of youth communities and called himself punk.

The student reportedly tested his explosive devices in a ravine located 200 meters from the school.

RT attempted to contact school administration # 61. However, they refused to comment on the situation with the detention of the student.

Similar crimes

Earlier, in March this year, on Sakhalin FSB officers detained two teenagers 17 and 18 years old on suspicion of planning an armed attack on the Sakhalin Mining College.

According to investigators, they also propagated terrorism, mass killings and suicide on the Internet. During the searches, a shotgun with ammunition, an industrial detonator, allegedly improvised explosive devices, explosives and personal diaries containing information about a planned armed attack on the educational institution were seized from students.

A criminal case involving public calls for terrorist activities is being investigated against young people (part 2 of article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The elder brother of one of the arrested students, Alexei Pudovkin, said that Maxim was a quiet young man and rarely left the house.

“Max has had vision problems since birth. He, one might say, was almost blind - he saw only in front of him, and that was only 15 centimeters away. He had glasses with lenses the size of a finger. He underwent eye surgery to straighten his vision, but his habit of staying at home remained. For a long time he didn’t go out on the street, ”the source told RT.

According to him, now Maxim is cooperating with the investigation and answers all questions.

“He was charged with publishing a manifesto in support of terrorism on a page in Odnoklassniki, which he had not used for a long time. Maxim asks the experts to check at least which computer this publication got to him from Odnoklassniki, it's not so difficult to do, ”said Pudovkin.

Alexey added that Maxim met another suspect - Ilya - when they were in school. According to Pudovkin, the second detainee was registered with the police, in addition, he was expelled from the college for absenteeism.

“He [Ilya], unlike Maxim, did not cooperate with the investigation. Maxim answered all questions, even during the search he behaved calmly. And Ilya refused flatly - they say, look for what you want ... Ilya didn’t seem to offend my brother (mine. - RT ), but his father was against Maxim talking to him, ”added Alexey.

Lawyer Maxim Pudovkin in June said that the suspect is now being held in solitary confinement in a solitary confinement cell.

“He did not seem to complain about the conditions. It’s enough for the investigation that he had discovered a makeshift explosive device, so I suspect there will be no termination of the criminal case, ”said lawyer Dmitry Bronenko in an interview with RT.

In total, from the beginning of this year, according to media reports, a number of attacks on schools that, according to the investigation, the students planned were prevented. We are talking about institutions in the Tyumen, Kostroma, Chelyabinsk, Saratov, Sakhalin regions, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Crimea.
