The giant boots, the work of Lilian Bourgeat, at the entrance to the kitchen of the Cantine du Voyage. - F.Brenon / 20Minutes

Visitors discovered them on June 2, when the Cantine du Voyage reopened at the western tip of the island of Nantes. Brown plastic boots, about 3 m high, dominate the entrance to the organic vegetable garden with which part of the restaurant meals are made. The pair seems to be mistaken for that of a gardener ... who would have the size of a giant.

The work, which will be lasting, was commissioned by Voyage à Nantes from Dijon artist Lilian Bourgeat. The latter had already collaborated with VAN in 2013 by offering a giant tape measure, rue de la Noue-Bras-de-fer, on the island of Nantes.

" This is really well done "

Since the boots were installed, many astonished visitors stop to photograph them. "I find them superb, it's super well done," notes Valérie, who is seated at the table. "They are very popular with customers and walkers," confirms Philippe Clément, operator of the Cantine du Voyage. "We are going to organize activities around them, every Sunday afternoon, to help people discover the vegetable gardens," he adds.

Created in 2013, La Cantine du Voyage is a restaurant in greenhouses, open seven days a week, from spring to autumn.
