The family found 88-year-old dead eel in the well

- I took some water in my mouth and spit it out immediately. It tasted dead animal, says Linn Björgvik in Urshult.

The family was assisted by a plumber who could pick up a dead tan eel with big eyes. After searching for wells online, the family realized that there might be an interest in their unusual finds. The eel was frozen in a cookie jar and sent to the Swedish University of Agriculture.

Now expert Martina Blass has aged the eel - and has come to the conclusion that it is at least 88 years old. In all the years it has been swimming around in the four meter deep well.

- We have lived here for 22 years and never thought we had an eel, says Martin Björgvik.
