According to the Rwandan Bureau of Investigation, this search follows the arrest of a man, Gaston Munyabugingo, who was trying to join a group considered as terrorist by Kigali and who is said to have been linked to Victoire Ingabire .
Other suspects are reportedly in the sights of the authorities in the case, according to the Bureau of Investigation, which has not yet released the findings of the search. But Saturday evening, the relatives of Victoire Ingabire could not reach her.
The president of Dalfa Umurinzi is one of the rare opponents of President Paul Kagame to live in Rwanda. She spent 8 years in prison there for “minimizing genocide and conspiring against the government”, before being released in 2018. But in recent months, she has been questioned several times by the authorities about alleged links with armed groups.
Victoire Ingabire regularly denounces a war of attrition against her party , which is not recognized by the government. Last week, it reported the disappearance of one of its members Venant Abayisenga.
