Brooklyn star Kyrie Irving participated in a conference call with the NBA and voiced opposition to a resumption of the season scheduled for July 31 in Florida, several American media reported on Saturday.

According to ESPN and The Athletic, citing anonymous sources, the issue of racial discrimination and the current social and political climate was raised during this conference, which brought together some 100 players.

"I don't support going to Orlando to play," Irving told The Athletic. "There is something bad about," added the player, who forfeited until the end of the season due to a right shoulder injury for which he had surgery three months ago.

Joel Embiid, Carmelo Anthony, Donovan Mitchell, Kevin Durant, Chris Paul or Dwight Howard also participated in this meeting according to the media.

After a timeout of four and a half months due to the coronavirus, the NBA has decided to resume the current season as of July 31 in Orlando (Florida), where a champion will be crowned among the 22 teams concerned.

The matches will take place behind closed doors and will take place at Disney World, more precisely on the huge site "ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex", which has three rooms as well as hotels capable of accommodating delegations.
