At the microphone of Europe 1, the epidemiologist Christian Rabaud believes that the ten clusters which have appeared in the Grand Est this week do not require "more specific care" and are not worrying, because they do not reflect a new beginning of the epidemic.

He wants to be reassuring. If the figures for positive cases of coronavirus have started to rise again in the departments of Meuse and Meurthe-et-Moselle for a week, Christian Rabaud does not see this as a sign of a new start to the epidemic in France . According to him, "what we are seeing today does not justify strengthening health measures." Invited this Friday of Europe 1, the epidemiologist and president of the medical commission of establishment of the CHRU of Nancy also estimates that the ten clusters which made their appearance in this zone are not worrying.

Clusters that do not require "more specific support"

Taking the example of that of the Lycée Henri Poincaré in Nancy, Christian Rabaud points out that "the two positive pupils have no links with each other and that those around them have not been infected". This epidemic focus is therefore not a "fire start". "And as long as we are in this kind of situation, there is no reason to worry, nor to trigger more specific care."

"All the indicators do not show a recovery"

As for a possible resumption of the epidemic from these clusters, the specialist recalls that "all of the other indicators of the epidemic (number of emergency visits, admissions to intensive care ...) are perfectly stable at one level low, but not zero. " Certainly "the epidemic is not over and we must maintain health measures for the moment, but when we look at what is happening on all of the indicators, this does not show a recovery", insists -he.

The effectiveness of the screening policy implemented.

On the contrary, he sees this increase as proof of the effectiveness of the screening policy put in place. And that reassures him, since "in the event of a fire starting, we will know it quickly and we will be able to control it".
