Since the corona pandemic became everyday, we have been flooded day by day with figures and statistics on the number of deaths. Over 4,800 Swedes have so far been confirmed to have died as a result of covid-19. Many of whom lived in a retirement home.
The majority of people who die in housing for the elderly are women. It was also April 15, the deadliest day of a particularly black week this spring.
We do not know how many of those who passed away who were infected with corona. In fact, we know very little about them.
SVT Nyheter has therefore been in contact with relatives of several of these persons. Sons, daughters, life-mates and grandchildren, who tell us who they were.
Anna-Britta Petersson, 92, Stockholm. As a person, she was incredibly hot, quick in the head and good at shooting with salon rifles. Her concern was enough and turned over to everyone around her.
Alf "Affe" Larsson, 76, Avesta. Equestrian journalist and trotting profile. When he was happy, he always sang the Värmlands song "Ack Värmeland, du schönna". He liked people and used to break arms, it was a way of socializing.
Else Wallin, 89, Trelleborg. Born on a farm in Denmark and traveled to the world as a 17 year old. The world became Trelleborg. She found joy in crafts and was very handy. The colony lot was her big interest.
Inga-Britt Melander, 81, Falun. Three grandchildren and housewife, later cleaners in the newspaper Dala-Demokraten until retirement. Even in difficult times, she always had a laugh to spare.
Anna-Britta, "Affe", Else, Inga-Britt and "Lollo" are some of the at least 92 people who died on a retirement home that day. All people with long lives but widely different life stories.
The age of the deceased ranges between 64 and 100 years, but the average age for all was 87 years.
Twelve of those who passed away that day had no relatives left alive.
It also happens to be the same day that the popular TV profile Adam Alsing passed away, in the suites of corona.
