The tours have been many when it comes to how staff working with covid patients in the Jönköping County region should be compensated for their efforts during the pandemic. Employees at Ryhov County Hospital have previously demanded risk supplements and financial compensation for illness. On May 20, the region responded with a counter-proposal for a work evaluation supplement of SEK 4,000 per month for staff working close to patients. The benefits would be valid from April through August. The employer also offered increased travel allowance and overtime compensation.

The decision is made

Now the proposal has been clubbed after union negotiations.

- The Jönköping County Region has collective agreements for employment and work environment that last well over time and are agreed by the employer and the trade unions together. What we present today means extra remuneration that is given in addition to the agreements that already exist, says Sven Fägerskjöld, acting HR director in a press release on Thursday.

They get the extra money

The extra benefits now decided include staff nurses, nurses, nurses and doctors with a main workplace in the ward for patients with covid-19, in one of the three IVA departments in the county or in the infectious clinic. In total, the new remuneration for work valuation represents a cost of SEK 30 million for approximately 1,100 employees.
