"We have a little bit of preparation, but we had hoped - because we need rest and recovery," says nurse Brita Molander at the central intensive care unit.

Erika Marjamaa Nilsson is the head of the department. Nor is she happy about the canceled vacation.

- It is a heavy message to leave to the staff. It is not my decision, but the background is what it looks like with the infection in society - that is what governs, she says.

Applies to others as well

The same rule of three weeks' holiday also applies to other care staff at Akademiska, as the summer of care at the moment seems to continue to be strained.

The health care staff will spend a fourth holiday week, but only in September or October.

Assistant nurse Brita Molander emphasizes that people must continue to adhere to the restrictions that exist.

- You get provoked when you see how close people sit to each other in cafes and outdoor restaurants. This is not over, but people don't seem to care anymore. If they did, then maybe we would have our vacation, ”she says.
