The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the bombing that targeted a mosque west of the Afghan capital, Kabul, yesterday, and led to a number of innocent deaths and injuries.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation affirmed that the UAE expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence aimed at destabilizing security and stability and is incompatible with religious and human values and principles.

The Ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of the victims of this heinous crime, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.

At least four people were killed in the attack on the mosque, the second in less than two weeks in the Afghan capital.

"According to our preliminary information, explosives were placed inside the mosque and were detonated during Friday prayers," Tariq Arian, spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry, said in a message on WhatsApp.

He added that the imam of the prayer was killed and three worshipers, and the Ministry of Health confirmed this toll.

The attack on the Shah Shah Suri Mosque comes a week after an attack by ISIS, in which two people, one of them a known imam, were killed in a mosque on the outskirts of the heavily fortified Green Zone in Kabul.

Afghanistan is seeking to deal with several crises, with the outbreak of the Corona virus emerging around the country, and the continuation of violence despite indications from the government and the "Taliban" that it is close to sitting at the negotiating table.

The Afghan President Ashraf Ghani pledged, the day before yesterday, to release all the Taliban prisoners, which is a major demand for the start of peace talks with the movement.
