To ensure safe care during the summer, Uppsala Municipality is trying to over-staff the elderly.
117 hourly staff nurses have been offered and agreed to temporary monthly employment.
What is missing now are nurses.
In the emergency situation, there are ten services that need to be added, but the chair of the Elderly Committee Caroline Hoffstedt (S) would like to see that the nurses are also over-staffed.
- It is a strained situation and we see that throughout the country. After all, we had a shortage of trained nurses even before the pandemic, ”she says.
12,000 extra a week
The nurses who choose to postpone their vacation this fall will receive a supplement of SEK 9,000 a week, and those who move it further will receive SEK 12,000.
- We are working intensively to be able to recruit nurses from other businesses in the municipality who can now consider switching to elderly care, says Caroline Hoffstedt (S).
