On Thursday, June 11, in the Ryazan region, the funeral of Sergei Zakharov, who died from numerous injuries after a car accident, took place: actor Mikhail Efremov, who was intoxicated at the time of the accident, crashed into his car.
The funeral service for Zakharov took place in the church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Konstantinovo. According to the priest, about 60 people came to him. At the entrance to the church, people were given masks due to the epidemiological situation, and police officers and doctors were on duty near the building.
Then the funeral procession went to the neighboring village of Kuzminskoye, where Zakharov was buried near the grave of his father.
“We would have more such people, then life would have been different, and not like this Efremov. In life, he was a decent person, raised children, grandchildren. Only the good can be said. Literally, a week ago here (in the village. - RT) I made water for my mother, ”a resident of the village Nadezhda Eryomina told reporters.

Meanwhile, Mikhail Efremov was taken to the Main Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow to conduct investigative actions in the framework of a criminal case brought under paragraph “a” of part 4 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“violation of the rules of the road and the operation of vehicles”.
“He will also be interrogated in a criminal case under article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“ illegal production, sale or transfer of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues ”), after which the question of his procedural status in this case will be resolved,” gives the text of the TASS message.

On the eve, at the request of the Moscow prosecutor Denis Popov, the criminal case against the actor was transferred from the Department of Internal Affairs in the Central Administrative District to the Main Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the capital. Also, as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the fatal accident, another criminal proceeding was opened on Smolenskaya Square.
The capital’s prosecutor’s office said that Efremov was driving a car in a state of alcohol and drug intoxication, having an accident that killed a person. For the commission of this crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of 5 to 12 years. At the same time, the traffic police in Moscow said that over the past year and a half he was prescribed 50 administrative offenses in the field of traffic, most of which are connected with speeding and marking violations.
Recall that on the evening of June 8, near the Smolenskaya Square on the Garden Ring, Mikhail Efremov, while driving a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, was moving along the second line to the left of the dividing line. However, in the place where the road bent and it was necessary to go to the right, the SUV continued straight ahead and, being in the oncoming lane, a small van crashed on the basis of the Lada car. The driver of the domestic car, 57-year-old employee of the company "Delikateska.ru" Sergey Zakharov, received multiple injuries. On the morning of June 9, he died in the intensive care unit of the Research Institute named after Sklifosovsky.
In a conversation with RT, auto experts, having analyzed the video of the accident and the behavior of the car that the actor was driving, came to the conclusion that Efremov could fall asleep at the wheel just before the collision.
Recall that on June 28, 2019, amendments to the Criminal Code entered into force, which significantly tighten the responsibility of drunk drivers for road accidents with grave consequences. The perpetrators of such accidents were actually equated with murderers - in particular, for an accident with a dead person, the perpetrator faces 5 to 12 years in prison, in the case of the death of two or more persons - up to 15 years in prison.
According to the traffic police, in 2018 in Russia there were 16,458 traffic accidents with drivers who were intoxicated. In these accidents, 4,645 people were killed, 22,360 people were injured.
After the incident, with the participation of Mikhail Efremov, the Federation Council suggested toughening the punishment for drunk driving.
