Niklas Poblenz used to park his car on the street outside the house in Lilla Ursvik. Previously, it has been free, but at short notice, Sundbyberg Municipality on June 1 introduced new parking rules on the streets in the area.

In June, July and August, temporary parking rules were introduced which would become permanent in September. However, temporary rules may only be introduced in special cases, for example if it is needed due to road work or if there is a risk of road damage.

- The temporary rules seem to be a way of rounding up the regulations because they have not had time to fulfill the formal rules for permanent rules. Then they took the trick with the temporary rules. But nobody understands why it would be such a hurry to get through these rules, says Niklas Poblenz, who appealed the municipality's decision to the county administrative board.

County Administrative Board: Obvious failure of the municipality

After just over a week with the new parking rules - or local traffic regulations, as it is officially called - the county administrative board has now canceled the municipality's decision. According to the county administrative board, it is "obvious" that there is no reason to impose temporary regulations.

- We introduced temporary rules to increase flexibility in case we needed to make changes until the rules became permanent. But we adhere to the County Board's decision, says Tomas Lindvall, technical manager at Sundbyberg Municipality.

May introduce the same rules this fall

Sundbyberg Municipality is still planning to introduce permanent parking rules this fall.

- It is our firm opinion that there is a need to regulate the Lilla Ursvik area, says Tomas Lindvall.

Niklas Poblenz has tried to gain access to the municipality's documentation to introduce permanent parking rules in the fall, but without results.

- It's one of the things that bothers us. It is not possible to get any investigation that shows that these rules are actually needed, says Niklas Poblenz.
