The barbecue had turned to drama. A 29-year-old man was tried on Tuesday before the Saint-Brieuc criminal court for involuntary injuries on the daughter of his partner, 19 months old. The facts took place on July 28, 2018 in Yffiniac, as reported by Ouest-France . The young man was preparing to start a barbecue in a garden shed. It was at the time of lighting it with petrol that the drama had occurred. While near the barbecue, the girl was severely burned.
The individual then did not see fit to call for help despite the seriousness of the injuries and it was not until the mother arrived that the child was taken to the emergency room. The little girl had been transferred to the burns department at the Nantes University Hospital where she had been placed in an artificial coma with 40% of the body burned. She is doing much better today but will have lifelong consequences. For these acts of negligence, the man was sentenced to 15 months in prison suspended.
